Surrealist Games: Analogical Masks

Analogical Masks, 8/8/2003

Katerina Pinosova, Richard Waara, Eric Bragg, Ribitch

Each player creates a mask out of anything on which two disparate yet sublimely attracted images contend with each other. Out of the embrace of the two images emerges a new analogical meaning. Later, comparisons can be made between the masks. What sky is trying to be born? Which wind is becoming visible? Whom is being served?

As a template, a white plastic mask can be used (obtainable at any costume store), or a hand-held, fan-shaped mask can be devised, which is then painted, drawn on, etc.

When the players congregate to unveil their masks, at some chosen moment the masks are donned and then all can observe the complete effect.
