The images of smoke art or smoke photography, on this page, were made with cigarettes and a digital camera, in a long, dark, draft-free area. The swirling streams of smoke, when captured digitally, are extremely conducive to imaginative interpretation. For this reason, and from the surrealist standpoint, I have chosen to refer to these images as "automatic smoke signals." These images are also a highly ephemeral manifestation of the surrealist found object.
